What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing Web content. Using an RSS reader, you can subscribe to syndicated news feeds from your favorite online news sources and blogs.

What is a news reader?

To take advantage of an RSS feed (news feed), you must have a news reader (also referred to as a news aggregator). A news reader allows you to subscribe to various data/news feeds from online news sources. RSS feeds are free.

A number of free and commercial news readers are available for download. Many of these are separate, stand-alone programs that you install on your computer; other services are Web-based and allow you to add RSS feeds to a Web page. For example, Yahoo! users can add RSS feeds to their My Yahoo! Page.

Once you have downloaded a news reader, the next step is to subscribe to the feeds that you want to receive. To subscribe to the AAA NewsRoom feed, cut and paste the following URL into your news reader.
